JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Assurance (Quality Control) Manager is responsible for the general oversight and development of the Quality Department at 8th Wonder brewery. An important part of the Production team, the QA/QC Manager collects, monitors and analyzes data, designs and implements controls and ensures quality of product from raw material, through production and into the market.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Coordinate quality routine testing in a timely manner with minimal errors.

· Collect, monitor and file fermentation data

· Perform yeast analysis including cell counts and pitch rates

· Conduct thorough microbiological analysis using traditional plating and PCR

· Perform water testing as needed

· Set quality control checks through all production processes

· Collect quantifiable, post-production data

· Participate and assist with in process and packaged beer sensory program

· Follow up on all field quality incident reports and perform necessary testing on available samples

· Manage lab internship program

· Write SOPs for all current lab procedures and tests

· Oversee compliance for all current SOPs

· Calibrate lab equipment as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelors of Science in chemistry, food science, or a related field, or equivalent quality control/quality assurance experience in the brewing or beverage/food industry. Masters preferred.

· Operational knowledge of the brewing process. Ideal candidate to have industry experience.

· Must be able to make independent, executive decisions regarding quality of product

· Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Must be proficient in Excel, Word and Powerpoint

· Must be able to organize and perform statistical analysis on a variety of data

· Some weekend work may be required
